Canadian kindness

At today’s morning (In fact it was about eleven o’clock) I decided to go out for a little run, have some look around our neighbourhood and maybe find some nice places to hang out. So I put my running shoes on and walked to Brant Street, one of Burlingtons main lanes.

It was a pretty nice day, the sun was shining and all I heard was my breathing and the calm music I was listening to. The road was going downhill, so it didn’t last long until I was about three kilometres away from home.

While running I got the great idea to turn in a street beside Brant Street where those old houses with big gardens are, just for fun. The midday heat was burning down and the whole area was quite silent and peaceful, I got in those streets deeper and deeper and after some time I couldn’t find the way back.

I must have looked very lost, because after about one minute a canadian family who was sitting outside asked me if they could help me. So I told them about my problem finding the right way back and their reaction was really unexpected but the best thing in world that could happen:

“Do you want some water or coffee?” “Let me explain which way you have to go!” “Come, take a seat!”.

It turned out that the woman was from Holland and moved to Canada when she was ten years old, so she knew some german words and could even understand some sentences like: “Hallo, mein Name ist Sebastian und ich mache Urlaub in Canada”. They asked me what I was doing in Canada, so I told them about visiting my relatives and the roadtrip me and my brother are going to do. After twenty minutes of talking they showed me the right way home and with a great feeling I walked back to Brant Street and went the right way home.

What an unexpected experience!
